Reuben Bestwick enlisted on the 8th February 1915, being given the number 3774, gave his home address as 15, Talbot Street, Derby, and occupation as painter. He was 5 feet 5 inches in height. Arriving in France on the 26th February 1917, he was killed in action on the 4th April the same year. Personal effects returned to his wife after his death included a broken watch and strap, a cigarette lighter in a tin, one mitten and a disc.
